Kitchen and bath specialist Jan Kepler works in a space of her own design at Fortini, surrounded by beautiful cabinetry and a variety of cabinet door and hardware samples she uses to help clients create the homes of their dreams. Her work features custom cupboards by the esteemed Plato Woodwork company of Minnesota, where she also sits on the advisory board. She’s worked as a designer for the past seven years after a midlife career change from many successful years in marketing. Good quality and design, without high prices, are what clients find at Fortini, she says. “We only go for products we’re really proud of.” Her responsibility, she adds, is to help people make good choices. She asks clients to bring in pictures of things they love and she talks with them about how they cook, how they live.

Anne Fortini returned to San Luis Obispo after 30 years teaching at a community college and running her own interior design business in Southern California. She’s a skilled designer and problem-solver who enjoys meeting new clients, learning how they tick and then crafting solutions that work for their lifestyle. Clients quickly become friends, sharing Anne’s passion for living and working in beautiful surroundings. She’s passionate about fabrics, patterns, designs and loves the search for just the right look that will suit her clients’ needs and tastes.
When it comes to design, Jules DuRocher has just about all the bases covered. She works on new home construction and remodels and is skilled in space planning, plumbing and lighting design, cabinet drawings, fabrics and window treatments. She loves “cool new products” and all varieties of textures and shapes. She can help clients with planning for everything from how doors swing open to furniture placement, and she says the best time to involve a designer is at the start of a home construction project, because an effective team effort between client, architect, builder and interior designer starts at the very beginning. Jules started her career working in large design showrooms and loves the intimate family atmosphere she’s found at Fortini. “I enjoy just being part of the team and working in this beautiful environment.”
